How to Set a Static IP Address on Epson POS Printers

This guide explains how to configure an Epson POS printer to use a static IP address instead of DHCP. Setting a static IP is recommended to ensure stable printer connectivity with your POS system.

Epson POS Printer Information

  • Vendor Website:

    https://www.epson.com.au/pos/

  • Default IP Mode:

    DHCP (Automatic)

  • Default Login Credentials:

    • Username: Epson

    • Password: Epson

    • Note: For printers manufactured after 2019, the password is the printer’s serial number.

Required Utility Software

To configure the printer, Epson provides a dedicated network configuration tool.

EpsonNet Config Utility (Recommended)

Download link:

https://download.epson-biz.com/modules/pos/index.php?page=soft&pcat=3&scat=43

This utility can:

  • Scan the network for Epson printers

  • Detect printers even if they are on a different IP subnet

  • Allow you to log in and update printer network settings

Method 1: Set Static IP Using EpsonNet Config Utility

Step 1: Install and Open the Utility

  • Download and install the EpsonNet Config Utility

  • Open the application and allow it to scan the network

Any Epson printers detected on the network will appear in the list.

Step 2: Access Printer Configuration

  • Double-click the printer you want to configure

  • This will open the printer’s configuration screen

Step 3: Configure TCP/IP Settings

  1. Select TCP/IP Config from the menu on the right

  2. Locate the IP Address Setting

  3. Change the mode from Automatic (DHCP) to Manual

  4. Enter your desired:

    • IP Address

    • Subnet Mask

    • Gateway

Step 4: Apply Changes

  • Click Transmit

  • The printer will save the new configuration and automatically reboot

Once rebooted, the printer will use the static IP address.

Method 2: Set Static IP via Web Browser (Older Models)

For some older Epson printer models, you can configure the IP address directly through a web browser.

Step 1: Access the Printer Web Interface

  • Enter the printer’s current IP address into a web browser

Login credentials:

  • Username: Epson

  • Password: Epson

(or the printer’s serial number for newer models)

Step 2: Change IP Settings

  1. Navigate to the Network / TCP/IP settings

  2. Set Acquiring the IP Address to Manual

  3. Enter your desired:

    • IP Address

    • Subnet Mask

    • Gateway

Step 3: Save and Reboot

  • Click Send

  • The printer will reboot and apply the new static IP configuration

Important Notes

  • Make sure the chosen IP address is not already in use on your network

  • Keep the IP address within the same subnet as your POS

  • After changing the IP, update the printer IP settings in your POS by re-adding the printer
