How to Create Holiday Surcharge on iOS POS

A holiday or weekend surcharge can be created from the Abacus Back Office using a percentage rate, based on the store’s requirements. Please follow the steps below to set up a General Surcharge for iOS POS.


Step 1: Enable General Surcharge

  1. Go to Abacus Back Office

  2. Navigate to Sales > Surcharge > General

  3. Make sure “Enable General Surcharge” is turned ON



Step 2: Create a New Surcharge

  1. Click New Item

  2. Fill in the required fields:

  • Name

    Enter the surcharge name (e.g., Weekend Surcharge, Public Holiday Surcharge)

  • Rate Type

    Select Percentage

  • Rate

    Enter the surcharge percentage

  • Exclude Category

    Select categories that should not be affected by the surcharge (Android POS is not suitable on this settings) 

  • Days of Week

    Choose specific days if the surcharge only applies on certain days

  • Start & End Date

    Set the date range if the surcharge is only valid for a specific period

  • Order Type

    Apply the surcharge to specific order types (e.g., Dine-in, Pickup, Delivery)

  • Source

    Choose the order source (e.g., POS, Online Ordering)

 


Step 3: Save and Sync

  1. Click Save

  2. Perform a Master Sync from the Master POS to apply the changes


How It Works on the POS

  • Items under the Dessert category are not affected because this category has been added to the exclude list.



  • All other items from different categories will automatically have the surcharge applied at checkout.
