How to Create a Holiday Surcharge on Android POS

A holiday or weekend surcharge can be created using a percentage rate based on the store’s requirements. Please follow the steps below to set up a General Surcharge from the Abacus Back Office for Android POS.

Step 1: Enable General Surcharge

  1. Log in to the Abacus Back Office

  2. Go to Sales > Surcharge > General

  3. Make sure “Enable General Surcharge” is turned ON



Step 2: Create a New Surcharge

  1. Click New Item

  2. Fill in the required details:

  • Name

    Enter the surcharge name (e.g., Public Holiday Surcharge, Weekend Surcharge)

  • Rate Type

    Select Percentage

  • Rate

    Enter the surcharge percentage

  • Days of Week

    Select specific days if the surcharge should only apply on certain days

  • Start & End Date

    Set a date range if the surcharge is only valid for a specific period

  • Order Type

    Choose which order types the surcharge applies to (e.g., Dine-in, Pickup, Delivery)

  • Source

    Select the order source (e.g., POS, Online Ordering)

 

⚠️ Important Note for Android POS

  • The Exclude Category feature is not supported on Android POS

  • Even if categories are added to the exclude list in the Back Office, they will not be excluded on Android

  • Please avoid using Exclude Category when setting up surcharges for Android POS



Step 3: Save and Sync

  1. Click Save

  2. Perform a Master Sync from the POS

  3. The surcharge will become active based on your configuration


How It Appears on Android POS

  • On Android POS, the Exclude Category option does not appear

  • The surcharge is applied to all eligible items according to the setup


Comparison with iOS POS

  • On iOS POS, the Exclude Category feature is available and works as expected

  • On Android POS, this feature is currently not supported
