Enabling Gift Card Payment on Android POS

If your store is already subscribed to the Abacus Loyalty program and uses Gift Cards or Vouchers, you will need to enable a specific payment setting on the Android POS to accept Gift Card payments. Unlike the iOS iPad POS, the Gift Card payment option on Android POS is not displayed as a clearly named “Gift Card” button. Instead, it is handled through the Digital Money payment method. For this reason, it is important to enable the correct setting so staff can process Gift Card payments correctly.


Steps to Enable Gift Card Payment on Android POS

  1. On your Android POS, tap the menu icon in the top-left corner.

  2. Go to Settings.


  1. Select Payment Method.

  2. Enable Digital Money.

  3. Choose Cloud as the mode.

    • If Local is selected, an additional device is required to act as a money server, and Gift Card top-ups can only be processed through that device.

    • Cloud mode is recommended for most stores, as it allows Gift Cards to be processed without additional hardware.



  1. Once enabled, the Digital Money button will appear on the checkout screen.

  2. When processing a payment, select Digital Money and enter the Gift Card number to complete the transaction.
