How to Set a Different Product Name for Printing

If you want a product to appear with a different name on receipts or kitchen dockets (for example, using a shorter name or a different language), you can do this by setting a Print Name. The Print Name will override the default Product Name when printing.


Steps to Set a Print Name

  1. Log in to your Abacus Back Office.

  2. Go to Product Details.

  3. Select the product you want to update.

  4. Enter a Print Name.

  5. Click Save.

Update Printing Templates

  1. Go to Print Settings > Printing Templates.

  2. Edit all relevant templates (receipt and/or docket templates).

  3. Replace the placeholder [item_name] with [item_print_name].

  4. Save the template changes.

Apply the Changes on the POS

  1. Perform a Master Sync on the POS.

Once completed, the product will print using the Print Name on receipts and dockets, while the original Product Name will remain unchanged in the system.
