Temporarily Pausing Abacus Online Order

Temporarily Pausing Abacus Online Order

There may be times when you need to temporarily stop receiving online orders, for example during a busy service, a short closure, or unexpected operational issues. Abacus makes it easy to pause online ordering and resume it again when you’re ready.

Option 1: Close the Store from the POS

If you need to stop online orders quickly while on the floor:

  1. Open the Online Ordering Cart screen on your Abacus POS

  2. Tap Close Store

Once enabled, customers will no longer be able to place online orders immediately.

Option 2: Close Online Ordering from the Backend

If you’re managing this remotely or preparing ahead of time:

  1. Go to Online Ordering > Configuration in the backend

  2. Change the store status to Closed

  3. Click Save to apply the update

This option is useful if you want to schedule or manage store availability without accessing the POS directly.

Store Closed Message

When online ordering is paused, customers will see a message on your ordering page.

  • If no custom message is set, the system will display:

    “Currently not taking online orders.”

  • You can also add your own message to give customers more context, such as when online ordering will reopen.

Using a clear store closed message helps manage customer expectations and reduces confusion while your online ordering is unavailable.
